Hensleigh Creek rainforest destruction send an email to Lisa Neville now VicForests busted again
VicForests’ chronic habit of logging rainforest has once again been exposed.
The illegal logging of over a hectare of protected cool temperate rainforest is near Hensleigh Creek on the western edge of the Errinundra Plateau. Logging continues in the adjacent forest. Govt report from its own investigations is due this week.
Those responsible MUST be prosecuted and VicForests penalised - as any citizen would be. Please Help.


The new th-RET to our forests
burning of public native forests for electricity generation A plan to approve the burning of public native forests for electricity generation is back on the federal agenda. It could be passed on May 12 when parliament resumes. Planned changes to the Renewable Energy Target (RET) will include approval of forest furnace electricity to be defined as ‘renewable energy’. Thinning trials could create a ring of bonfires around towns
thinning of forests in fact creates a more flammable and dry forest In early April Tony Abbott handed $1.5 million to the logging industry to oversee a trail of a new ‘bushfire mitigation’ style of logging.
This is a cynical attempt to dress up fire control as logging with another huge subsidy. Will it allow access to previously out-of-bounds forests? Will it create more flammable zones around communities?

Aussie birds more advanced
Naturalist Tim Low says Australian birds are noisier, more aggressive and more intelligent than any other birds in the world. We know Australian birds are special. DNA evidence clearly points to the fact that Australia provided the entire world with a majority of its songbirds.
In his book Where Song Began: Australia's Birds and How They Changed the World, Tim Low looks at the relationship birds have with humans, how we interact, and sadly, how for many birds, loss of habitat has impacted on their survival. Read more here
